The Federal Government of Nigeria has revealed its plans to start a National Egg Production Scheme (NEPRO) which will worth about 10billon Naira.
The Scheme which has the support of the Central bank of Nigeria is targeted to achieve 50 million eggs production daily for the next 5 years.
Speaking during a press conference held recently in Ondo state, the Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbe made it known that the scheme will provide millions of job nationwide through production, processing, and marketing, adding that this will be an added advantage as many had lost their jobs in the previous year.
Speaking further, the minister assured if the loan is approved by the CBN, each farmer would get N4.2million to be paid in 30 months.
The project which will flag off officially today (Friday) is expected to help in conserving foreign exchange through the provision of egg processing machine for pharmaceutical use.
