The Edo State government says it will provide camps across the three senatorial districts of the state for over 30,000 communities affected by flooding in the state.
The Disaster Manager, Edo State Emergency Management Agency, Luqman Salami stated this while speaking on the effect of flooding in the state.
Salami urged the people in the state to move to higher ground whenever they are experiencing flooding to save their lives as properties would always be replaced.
He noted that the state government would create Internally Displaced Persons Camps for them in order to be able to distribute palliatives to cushion their plights.
He explained that the most affected three local government areas as predicted by Nigeria Meteorological Agency, NiMET, are Etsako East, Esan South East and Etsako Central.
Edo state is one of the states prone to flooding on a yearly basis hence the warning by NIMET for those in flood-prone areas to relocate to higher grounds.
