Another approach to staying safe is to clean frequently touched surfaces around the house, including doorknobs and faucets, on a regular basis, as the virus appears to survive on surfaces for hours to days.
Cleaning products containing at least 70% ethanol, diluted bleach, a 3 per cent hydrogen peroxide mix, or commercially available disinfectant wipes can all be used as disinfectants. Mixing cleaning products is never a good idea.
We’re taught we can each play a part in preventing its spread. But how? Clara Liao, a PhD student at Yale School of Medicine, outlines the most crucial measures to take on your next grocery store run or other necessary errands.
There is a wealth of information available on how to protect ourselves and others from COVID-19.
The best things to take so far to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are:
1. Social estrangement (maintain a distance of 6 feet between yourself and others)
2. Remain at home.
3. Keep your hands away from your face.
4. Hands should be washed often with soap for a total of 20 seconds each time.
5. Wear a mask made of fabric.
SARS-CoV-2, the virus that produces COVID-19, spreads through the air via respiratory droplets driven by an infected person’s sneeze or cough, just like the common cold and influenza viruses.
Surgical masks, on the other hand, are loosely fitted around the wearer’s nose and mouth and offer a physical barrier against particles and germs rather than a filtering one.
“They protect the wearer from big respiratory droplets but not from tiny particles, so the CDC does not consider them to be dependable respiratory protection,” Liao explains.
These, on the other hand, should be reserved for healthcare employees.
