Oils have been around since forever, in recent years, they have taken the forefront of organic skin care. A lot of people are reaching out to oils to maintain their skin and treat minor diseases such as acne. In fact, according to Google Trends, one of the most searched oil in the past year is tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is literally the go-to essential oil for treating acne. But that’s by the way.
Granted, not everyone has to deal with skin care challenges. Although, I doubt anyone doesn’t have a skin care challenge they are battling with. But let’s assume they’re all minor. Does that mean you still can’t use oils to achieve a glowing skin? Of course not.
here are certain oils that are best used for your facial skin.
Rosehip Oil
Rosehip oil is a game-changer. if you are not using any other oil for your skin, you should be using rosehip. After using rosehip for a while, I saw major improvements in my skin particularly the reduction of acne scars and discolouration. At different points in our lives, we must have dealt with acne which naturally left blackheads. If you not actively using a peel-off mask to remove the blackheads, you should be using rosehip to fade them off. #ThankMeLater. Plus, it’s a fantastic dry oil that can be used at any time of the day as it doesn’t leave a greasy feeling.
Almond Oil
Before, rosehip oil, Sweet Almond Oil was my go-to oil for my facial skin. Apparently, it’s really good in treating and preventing acne. The Dermatology Review explains it perfectly: some people are more prone to produce a sticky oil called sebum that can clog the pores with dead skin cells and other debris. However, the fatty acids in almond oil actually help dissolve the sebum that your skin produces, creating cleaner skin and pores, and helping to get rid of acne. Using an oil that can double as a moisturiser as well an acne treatment sounds like a win-win situation to me.
Grapeseed Oil
When choosing a facial oil, one of the qualities to look out for is the weight of the oil. Heavier oils such as Olive, Coconut and Castor might not be a good match because they are heavy enough to clog your facial skin. This is why lighter oils like Grapeseed Oil are perfect. It’s a great moisturiser which can also be used for the Oil Cleansing Method.
Evening Primrose Oil
If you have dry skin, you should not be sleeping on Evening Primrose oil. Apart from regulating hormone levels, it is packed with Omega-6 fatty acids which are pivotal in treating common skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles, and eczema. It regulates the functioning of the oil glands, so it can help dry, combination or oily skin regulate itself and become normal. Although, I personally think it works better for dry skin.
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is touted as one of the best oils for skin care because of its composition. It is actually a liquid wax similar to the sebum; the natural oil produced by the skin. This makes it a perfect moisturizer as it is able to deeply penetrate the skin. For this reason, Jojoba Oil can be used from head to toe.
It is important to note that these facial oils also offer general skin care benefits such as anti-ageing, reduction of fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation and so much more.
