30 Million Nigerians Living with Hepatitis B - Group Reveals

Zero Nigeria Commission, a group based in Abuja has drawn attention of the government to the figure that reveals that twelve percent of Nigerians, translating to about 30 million people are currently living with the Hepatitis B in the country.

Zero Nigeria Commission group said the statistics are staggering even as it urges the government through the Ministry to take proactive measures to address the health crises.

Hepatitis B which is a viral infection attacks the liver and can cause both acute and chronic diseases.

The virus is commonly transmitted from mother to child during birth and delivery, as well as through contact with blood or other body fluids through sexual intercourse or transfusion of unscreened infected blood.
